Professor, Bioengineering, and Medical Imaging
Cyprus University of Technology, Cyprus
Biography

Professor Christakis Damianou received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona (1988, 1990, 1993). He has held positions at the Universities of Arizona, Indiana, Harvard and Frederick University, and joined the Cyprus University of Technology in 2012, where he is a full professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering.

His research and teaching focus on biomedical engineering and medical imaging, notably MRI‑guided therapeutic ultrasound (MRgFUS) and MR‑compatible robotics. He has participated in 47 research projects (scientific coordinator for 29), authored 216 publications (90 peer‑reviewed) and 3 book chapters, and has supervised 10 completed Ph.D. students with 3 currently in progress.

Since 1990 he has been a pioneer in MRgFUS, a leading imaging‑guided ablation technology for deep‑seated targets.
