Ille C. Gebeshuber is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Applied Physics, TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), Austria. Her research focuses on biomimetics, nanotechnology, and tribology, bridging physics, biology, engineering, and the arts to develop sustainable technologies inspired by nature. She has worked extensively on bioinspired materials, engineered living systems, andenvironmentally compatible design principles. From 2008 to 2015, she conducted research in Malaysia, where tropical ecosystems deepened her interest in biological strategies for resilient and resource-efficient solutions. Prof. Gebeshuber is active in international research collaborations and science outreach and contributes to standards in biomimetics. She received the title “Austrian of the Year” for research achievements and continues to promote interdisciplinary approaches for sustainable innovation, including nature-inspired strategies relevant to energy and resource systems.
