Rolando Pedicini
Senior Researcher, National Research Council (CNR)
Institute of Advanced Technologies for Energy “Nicola Giordano” (ITAE), Italy
Biography

Dr. Rolando Pedicini is a senior researcher at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-ITAE) in Messina, with over twenty years of experience in the development of advanced materials and technologies for the energy transition, with a particular focus on hydrogen as a sustainable energy carrier. He obtained his PhD in Materials Science and Technology from the University of Calabria, specializing in the development of innovative systems for solid-state hydrogen storage.

His scientific activity lies at the intersection of materials science and energy systems engineering, with a strong application-oriented approach. His main research interests include the development and characterization of materials for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC), metal hydrides, and advanced composite materials for hydrogen storage, as well as the design and development of prototype storage systems integrated with electrochemical devices. His work has contributed to improving performance, safety, and sustainability of hydrogen-based systems, with applications in both transportation and stationary energy sectors.

He is currently responsible for the module “Hydrogen storage: materials and applications” at CNR-ITAE and holds leading scientific roles in several national and European research projects (including PRIN, PNRR, MOST, and NEST), actively contributing to the development of key technologies for decarbonization and energy transition.

Dr. Pedicini is the author of more than 160 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings, 2 book chapters, and over 60 scientific technical reports. He serves as a reviewer for high-impact journals in the fields of energy and materials and is a member of scientific and organizing committees of international conferences. He has also carried out teaching activities and served as a visiting professor in international academic contexts, contributing to the training of young researchers and to the strengthening of global scientific collaborations.
