Biography

Associate Professor Dr. Basma Ezzat Mustafa holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Laboratory Sciences. She began her academic career at the Faculty of Dentistry at International Islamic University Malaysia, in 2008, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise.

Throughout her tenure, Dr. Basma has made significant contributions, notably serving as the Head of Research for an extensive period. Currently, she is:

• Senior lecturer in  Fundamental and Dental Medical Sciences Department,
• Editorial Member of the IIUM Journal of Orofacial and Health Sciences,
• Doctor of Philosophy in Dental Sciences program coordinator,
• Vice President of the Malaysian Society of Oral Microbiology and Oral Immunology.

Her outstanding achievements have been recognized through multiple accolades, including the Certificate of Excellence in Research and Publication and a prestigious 6-star MyRA distinction.

Research Interest

Dr. Basma’s extensive research portfolio encompasses Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology, and Endocrinology.

She is actively involved in researching Natural Products, with a particular focus on the development of traditional and herbal medicine. Additionally, she has led the development of a product that is now set for commercialization.

Her expertise has guided numerous postgraduate students to success, earning national and university-level awards. Additionally, she has authored six books and published 64 research papers in various indexed journals.
