Biography

Howard Giles is Past President of the International Communication Association (ICA) and Distinguished Research Professor of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Honorary Professor both of Psychology at The University of Queensland, Australia, and English and Communication at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, China. He is an elected Fellow of 8 learned societies (including the Royal Society of Medicine), Founding and Co-founding Editor of the Journal of Language & Social Psychology & the Journal of Asia Pacific Communication respectively, and recipient of numerous honors, including the inaugural ICA Career Productivity Award.
